Highland Stories

John Alasdair Macdonald is a part-time PhD student at the University of the Highlands and Islands. His research has brought to life so many fascinating stories of forgotten Highlanders – such as Malcolm Macpherson of Phones, a fierce Jacobite who joined Charles Edward Stuart on his attempt to reach London to depose the Hanoverian monarch during the Rising... yet barely thirteen years later was gladly received by that very same King and cheered throughout the streets of London as the 'Grand Old Highlander'!

From Summer 2025, a series of podcast episodes will be available to share the stories of many of these forgotten Scottish Highlanders.
